They finished the warm-ups so they started to do the main practising of some pad work. A number of pupils took part in the high ropes challenge, climbing to the top of a giant pole, at which point they rested for five minutes. For some it took 30 seconds; others took longer as their nerves crept in. But there was only one way down… to jump off! The pupils from The Springfields Academy did amazingly well, although some found the experience scary. Mrs Williams showed great bravery as well as Bradley Walters. Check out the photos below on the slideshow.
It was inspiring to see parkour pros coming to school to help other students and it was also good to see what they could do.
I spoke to Steve Moss, a member of the parkour team. He said that it took about five and a half years to master the basic skills. He had injured himself when jumping – hurting his shins. Steve said he found jumping from roof to roof scary – even though he is experienced there is always a bit of fear!!!!!
Miss Wishart was interviewed and explained what it takes to become a good cook. “It is important to work as a team and make sure you have all the ingredients you need. It is essential to keep a sense of humour!”
