Day 2 of the games here at the academy with 5 schools taking part including Downlands, Rowdeford, Notton House, Mounton House and The Springfields Academy, with almost 120 competitors.
Before the games began, we spoke to James from The Springfields Academy in Year 9. He is taking part in athletics and said ‘I am determined to win!’ He is keen to complete the 100m sprint in under 14 seconds.
His fellow student Ewan in year 9 is aiming for gold in basketball.
At 10.25 am the opening ceremony began with Mr Lloyd, Head of PE at Springfields welcoming all for day 2. He sang the National Anthem to start the day and then all took the Olympic Oath, shown below.
In the name of all the competitors I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them, committing ourselves to a sport without doping and without drugs, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honor of our teams.
